Jewkes Family Campout

Last weekend we went camping with my family and had a fun time. It was great to be together and hang out with everyone. We camped near Willow Lake so the guys did lots of fishing. We also enjoyed four-wheeling on some great trails. At one point we had eleven four-wheelers between us. Definitely plenty for all who wanted to ride. The kids had enough helmets for each to wear and wanted someone to take them for rides all day long. Our camp included five trailers, three tents and a 50 gallon drum of water - yeah for flushing toilets and warm showers. The weather was really nice for the most part and I had to keep putting sunscreen on the boys and I, although, we still ended up getting a little burnt. I enjoyed being around my family and can't wait to go again.

Our beautiful camp

We barrowed a 12x14 canvas tent to sleep in from Nate's buddy. There was so much space for us that we decided we need buy one of our own.

The little kids loved camping and had so much fun with each other

The favorite hang-out spot for the kids was on the fourwheelers. We had to make sure we didn't leave the keys in them for fear of a little one walking away with it.

Nana brought water guns for all the kids. They loved filling them with water and shooting each other. Definitely a big hit.

Soccer - The Orange Dreamcycles

We decided to let McCoy play soccer again this year. He was still a little timid, but for the most part was a good player. He even made a couple of goals (after I bribed him with money). McCoy can run run pretty fast and has great coordination skills when he puts his mind to it. I think we'll probably wait another year before we sign him up again. I want him to want to play. Next year Landon will be old enough to play so that should be interesting.

San Francisco

I'm a little late posting, oh well. A couple of weeks ago I went to San Francisco with my mother-in-law and two sister-in-laws. We had an enjoyable time going to the fishermans warf, china town and the golden state park. While we were there we took advantage of their transportation service (subway, trolley and bus sytem). That was definitely an interesting experience. You never knew who you were going to sit or stand next to. I'm not sure I've ever seen so many homeless people in my life. On every corner someone was begging or performing for money. I guess I have lived a pretty sheltered life so far. It makes you wonder what happened in their life to put them there. The weather was always cold, windy and rainy, but we made the best of it. I think my favorite time was when my mother-in-law and I went to the golden state park together. It was nice and relaxing and the gardens were amazing. Thanks Peggy for the great time.

Bad Nose Job

I'm not sure what happened. One minute Landon was starting to walk down our front steps, the next second he was laying face down at the bottom. Poor guy!

Idaho Weekend

For Memorial Day weekend we went to visit my Grandma McBride who lives in Victor, ID. Every year the whole family gathers to work and have fun. This year the goal was to replace the fence that borders her property. It was so much fun to visit and see everyone. The only problem was with the spring run-off, there was water everywhere. The kids were in heaven and their parents were going crazy trying to keep them out. Luckily, we went the whole weekend without any major incidents. I love visiting Victor. My mom grew up here and everything reminded me of her. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of this place. I'm glad we went.

MUD!

On Friday I was upstairs cleaning my bathroom while the boys were out playing in the backyard. After I finished I went out to check on them and this is what I found...

McCoy and Landon decided it would be fun to fill up their sand buckets with water and dump it in their sand box to make mud. By the time I arrived on the scene they had discarded their shorts because "they were dirty" and were running around in their underwear. It made for a great picture. I told them to enjoy themselves now because this was not going to happen again.

Day 2
Well, apparently the boys had so much fun playing in the mud two days before that they wanted to do it again. Yesterday, I told the boys that they could play outside, but they had to STAY OUT of the mud and water. I went out to check on them a little while later and instead of dumping buckets of water into the sand box they decided to just turn on the hose so that they could get more water in. This time they were completely naked and were having a monster truck rally in the mud pit. I didn't know whether to laugh or yell. I can already tell we are going to have our hands full this summer.
